Smyrna is only about 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta and is an essential part of the Metro area. The city is known as the Jonquil City which comes from the many thousands of jonquils that bloom in gardens and on the streets in early spring.
Smyrna was incorporated as a city in 1872 so the community is very well established. It’s less than a 15 minute drive into the city but it feels like like a small town much farther away with far less traffic and congestion. Downtown Smyrna has been revitalized and has a library, community center, retail and mixed use development, as well as some of the most charming homes you’ll see in Atlanta’s metro area. The neighborhoods are charming and the residents are as diverse as the architecture. Residents love all of the parks, jogging trails, public golf courses, and swimming. The Smyrna Market village and all of its festivals, activities, and restaurants is one of the reasons why my family and I purchased our home in Smyrna!
SunTrust Park is currently under construction and will be the new home of the Atlanta Braves in 2017. This will bring more retail, residential housing, and restaurants to the area which is expected to boom!
